The position of the Director of Finance and IT at SOS Children’s Village at Cambridge is vacant for Africans across the world.

SOS Children’s Villages is a global charity working to protect children who have lost parental care, or who are at risk of losing it, helping them to access the care they need, while supporting young people with skills training, enabling them to lead independent fulfilled lives. We protect and improve the lives of children in 136 countries and territories, working with communities to support vulnerable families with a wide range of services to reduce the risk and impact of family breakdown.

As a global authority on alternative care and proponent of the UN Guidelines on Alternative Care, SOS Children’s Villages works in partnership with a wide range of actors, advocating for the rights of all children and contributing towards the development of key child protection policies.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a CCAB qualified accountant to be our new Director of Finance and IT. Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will be responsible for strategic financial management as well as the delivery of consistent, robust, and first-class finance and IT services. You’ll provide sound advice and support to staff and Trustees, leading the relationship with the Board’s Finance and Audit Committee and, as a member of the Senior Management Team, will play a key role in strategic planning and the overall leadership of the organisation.

Leading and managing a small team of Finance and IT professionals, you will ensure robust financial accountability to donors, working with the Director of Fundraising and local programme managers as appropriate. You’ll also act as first point of contact on financial matters for the General Secretariat of the SOS Children’s Villages Federation (Austria), including collaborating on Federation-wide initiatives.

With your experience of developing, delivering and monitoring a financial strategy, you’ll also bring a background in the preparation, monitoring and reporting of budgeting and financial management information to Boards and senior management, inspiring trust and confidence. The successful candidate will additionally have experience of both treasury and risk management, proven leadership and management capability and excellent people and communication skills across different countries and cultures.
